Late Victorian 15ct rose gold and guilloché enamel open faced locket

$7,850.00

Late Victorian 15ct rose gold enamel diamond and pearl locket. This is a stunning locket full of character. The front shows off guilloché enamel in a clear pale blue with a white enamel border. Guilloché is a decorative repetitive pattern that is engraved in the metal, then it is overlaid with a translucent enamel. The centrepiece on top of the enamel is a sterling silver crown atop two intertwined hearts set with two 0.03ct rose cut diamonds and diamond chips.

The back of the locket has an open frame for a picture or lock of hair. The side of the locket is decorated with 13 natural white pearls, approximately 3mm in diameter. There are three little holes at the top of the locket on the back. These show that this piece has an even more interesting history. It was once a convertible piece. Those holes would be used to secure different mechanisms to change the locket from a pendant, possibly to a brooch and a hair piece. Unfortunately the other pieces have been lost to time. This locket is still a beautiful piece on its own
